The six species of Information Architect
A nice article listing out the different "species" of information architects and their rather different, humble beginnings. The six species mentioned in the article are:- graphic designer/visual artist
- producer/project manager/product manager
- reformed developer/techie
- information sciences/library dudes
- writer/copywriter/content types
- usability IA
- nouveau IA (fresh skin graduate types)
Now, was that six or seven species? Check out the comments, you'll find more there.
To me, this goes to show the prospective richness of the field, and hopefully this will result in the development of rich approaches and methods, other than the usual blueprints and wireframes. [via infoDesign]
