The Dunbar Number as a Limit to Group Sizes
Now this is some research and analysis. Christopher Allen argues the Dunbar number: a single person is capable of having a maximum of 150 collaborative relationships at any one time. His research reveals that the number is around 45-50: "This all leads me to hypothesize that the optimal size for active group members for creative and technical groups -- as opposed to exclusively survival-oriented groups, such as villages -- hovers somewhere between 25-80, but is best around 45-50." This topic will be ideal for a weekend beer debate!Add tag Permalink | Friday, March 12, 2004
