News.com: Amazon plan allows text searches of many booksNews.com: Amazon plan allows text searches of many books
Amazon is calling its program "Look Inside the Book II". It would let online browsers search by terms like "Caravaggio," "sans-culottes," or "Osama bin Laden," and then see a list of books mentioning the term along with the sentence that contains it. Browsers could then choose to see several pages around that citation.
Very similar to what MeansBusiness offers--the ability to buy selected excerpts from books containing your search phrase. For example, if you search for "Disruptive Innovation", you will get a list of books containing the phrase and the passage or "concept extract" around it. This selection is done by business editors and not by software programs. You can buy the concept extract for a small fee.
