A Theory of Fun for Game Design
Following a recommendation by Michael Feldstein I bought Raph Koster's A Theory of Fun for Game Design. It's a wonderful little book that opened up a fertile thinking ground for me. I agree with Michael that this book gives you more insights into the psychology of learning than on the mechanics of games. I recommend this book to every learning designer.
